Bridges to Pals
Mentors - Offer a mentoring relationship to a Little Pal. Adults 21 years or older who are able to commit a minimum of four hours each month to activities with their Little Pals. Friendly Visitor Program
Visitors - Provide friendship to individuals who are isolated in their homes due to medical conditions. Clients and volunteers lives are enriched as they learn, grow and share time each week with one another. Volunteers are screened and attend orientation prior to being matched. Families Foremost Center
Center Reading and Math Tutors - Provide instruction/assistance to ensure math and reading comprehension for students functioning on 6th - 12th grade levels. Center English Conversation Group Facilitator - lead an English Conversation group for the Center's ESOL students. Contact (301) 585-3424 or swaddy@mhamc.org.

Center Computer Skills Instructor - offer introductory lessons in computer skills to Center clients on a periodic basis. Contact swaddy@mhamc.org or (301) 585-3424.

MOMS Mentors - Make a caring commitment to a young woman and her child or children. Mentors are carefully screened and trained to be a friend, a role model, an information source, an advocate and a link to social services (if they are needed) to young mothers between the ages of 12 & 24. Kensington Wheaton Youth Services
KWYS ESOL Teachers - Teach English to non-native speakers. Experience is useful, but not required. Contact (301) 933-2818.

KWYS Office Assistant - Assist with filing, organization of in-kind donations and other office tasks on an occasional basis. Contact (301) 933-2818.
Montgomery County Hotline
Hotline Volunteers - Provide supportive listening, problem solving, suicide prevention, crisis intervention and information and referrals for callers 24 hours a day. After completing a 57-hour training, Hotline volunteers are asked to commit to working one 4-hour shift per week, for a minimum of one year. Contact (301) 424-0656, ext. 117 or rlarkin@mhamc.org.
Pets on Wheels
People/Pet Visiting Teams - Bring your friendly animal into nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living and group homes. Lonely residents experience the joy, laughter and affection that only animals can give and establish friendships with the volunteer. Volunteers and animals are screened and training is provided. Representative Payee
Rep Payees - Provide financial supervision for individuals who are unable to manage their own Social Security or other government benefit due to a physical or mental disability. Following training, volunteers are matched with a program client and spend approximately six hours per month working with the client to manage the clients monthly benefit. Volunteers must be well organized, have good basic math skills and be able to work with clients who have a variety of disabling conditions. (Rep Payee is an AARP Foundation Money Management Program. Community Education
Kids on the Block Puppeteers - Teach children about social concerns through this educational program which features life-size puppets. Volunteers participate in a full-day training and then rehearse for several weeks before performing. Volunteers are asked to give one performance per week for a minimum of one year. Linkages to Learning
After-School Homework Tutors - Help children succeed at school. Work on homework assignments, learning techniques and study skills. Minimum age is 16+. Contact (240) 777-1109.

Thrift Shop
Thrift Shop Saturday Volunteers – assist customers with their purchases and write-up sales tickets. shifts run from 8:45am – 12:45pm and/or 1:00pm – 4:15pm at a Bethesda location. Weekday shifts are also available. Contact (301) 424-0656, ext. 109 or mteichman@mhamc.org
